Jess, the New Girl

Catch the premiere of New Girl tonight? I read somewhere that Zooey Deschanel was every girl's girl crush and thought, "Oh my gosh! Me too!". You know, I can't even explain it but when I first saw her in a trailer for (500) Days of Summer, I thought she was super cute and liked her style, granted it was her character's style. But yeah, I like nerdy, quirky girls so this show's definitely a DVR keeper.

Zooey's name on the show is Jess. I'm not a fan of the name Jessica, but I do like Jess. At one time, I considered changing my name legally to either Jessie or Alex. Jessie sounded a bit too cowgirl-like for me, Toy Story and all, so I was going to go through with Alex and even tried it out for a summer. But then the day came to make the change and I just couldn't go through with it. It just felt too permanent and good thing, ‘cause I was quickly over my girl/guy name phase and just wanted a less feminine name.

Since I’ve been meeting a lot of new moms at M’s school, I started thinking about a new name again. Being the genius that I am, I realized that I don’t have to legalize it and can just use it casually and to avoid unnecessarily awkward moments.

                                                

Jess coincidentally has double letters like all the other names in our family. I think Jess Doo sounds a little weird but I can just avoid saying the full name, right?  

So what do y’all think? Fit me enough? Should I start using it and see how it feels?

Okay, gotta get to bed. I'm still not used to this new preschool schedule.

Oh, PS. I think Tuesday nights are going to be my new fave TV nights. Glee, New Girl, then Parenthood. I LOVE Parenthood. Did you know Parenthood and Friday Night Lights (LOVE LOVE LOVE!) have the same producer? I'll watch anything produced by Jason Katims.
